Here are some helpful tools to manage your PTSD.

The trauma we live through affects our daily lives. We can be triggered at a moment's notice and are left with crippling panic or anxiety attacks or outbursts we can’t control. Here are 5 steps to combat the bad feelings we all face throughout our lives.
1. Count the things around you
The first step to manage a stressful moment is to ground yourself. This can easily be done by counting the things in your immediate area. Try to find like objects, count to five, and then switch to a different object. This pattern will help you establish a connection with the present.

2. Breathe
Breath work is so important. Make sure to inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. It allows you more control over your breathing. You can help alleviate stress through this practice.

3. Weighted Blanket / Gravity
Let gravity do the work for you! If you have struggles sleeping at night get a weighted blanket. It simulates the feeling of being hugged and can help calm your nervous system.

4. Meditation
This is a great one as it allows you to find space in the difficult emotions. I recommend using an app like Headspace or Buddhify to help guide you through. Meditation is a practice that is best if you practice so don’t be afraid to use it on a daily basis.

5. Laugh!
Laughter is a known stress reducer. Go watch a funny video or spend time with someone who knows how to tickle your funny bone.

I hope these couple of tricks are helpful.
Take care of yourself in these stressful times!
